I-Resolve
I-Resolve
As you may have heard, a vice principal and middle-school teacher in the Grants Pass School District drafted a resolution to bring to the Three Rivers, Grants Pass, and Rogue River school districts regarding the rights of transgender students.
The basics of their proposal: to label bathrooms “anatomically female” and “anatomically male;” make it optional for teachers to call students or staff by their chosen names and pronouns; and require parent permission for a student to ask to be called by a different name.
We know that this proposal would be deeply harmful to trans youth in southern Oregon, who are already often facing harassment and interrogation with immense beauty and resilience.
This video from TransActive Gender Project at the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling features video from the "I Resolve" anti-transgender youth campaign in Grant's Pass, Oregon.
It includes statements from the organizers of this campaign that are transphobic, misogynistic and insensitive. It also includes additional content from TransActive Gender Project that some may find disturbing.
